creates decorative objects Nowadays
quite a few artists are also placing their bets on the decoration sector. This
is the case of Christina Oiticica, who recently launched a line designed for the
home in partnership with the Rubens Objetos company. The artist has created a
collection made up of 14 items.
Made in wood and stamped with images from
the paintings that were exhibited at the Paths Gathered show at the National Museum
of Fine Arts in 2002. According to Christina, this is a way of making art
objects accessible to a greater number of people. Original art is normally
expensive. People often fall in love with an image and just cant afford
to buy it, says the artist. The images transposed from the paintings
to the boxes were taken from the world of women and treated in hot, strong tones
with a predominance of red. These painted mouths, hearts and roses are objects
that can be both decorative and utilitarian. Its as much of an honor
to be at dinner tables and in living rooms as it is to be on the walls of a museum
or in the street, adds Christina.
