Artist creates decorative objects

Nowadays quite a few artists are also placing their bets on the decoration sector. This is the case of Christina Oiticica, who recently launched a line designed for the home in partnership with the Rubens Objetos company. The artist has created a collection made up of 14 items.

Made in wood and stamped with images from the paintings that were exhibited at the Paths Gathered show at the National Museum of Fine Arts in 2002.

According to Christina, this is a way of making art objects accessible to a greater number of people. “Original art is normally expensive. People often fall in love with an image and just can’t afford to buy it,” says the artist.

The images transposed from the paintings to the boxes were taken from the world of women and treated in hot, strong tones with a predominance of red. These painted mouths, hearts and roses are objects that can be both decorative and utilitarian. “It’s as much of an honor to be at dinner tables and in living rooms as it is to be on the walls of a museum or in the street,” adds Christina.

In Shop Windows

Artist Christina Oiticica is to have one of her works exhibited in strange places. Paulo Coelho’s wife has entered into a partnership with the Folic design label to show replicas of the painting Mouth in the shop windows of the chain’s 37 stores, in addition to tee-shirts and packages during Valentine’s Day week. At the moment, Christina is presenting at the Brazilian Embassy in Rome her exhibition The Four Seasons, which has already been shown in Slovenia and will be coming to the France-Brazil Museum at the end of the year. Christina expands her creative universe by using a technique through which the interference of nature creates textures and stains.
