Recolhidos (Museu Nacional de Belas Artes, Rio de Janeiro) - Among the
installations, sculptures and paintings, the local artist Christina Oiticica is
reviewing ten years of her life. Throughout a decade, she has kept hotel key cards,
telephone cards, visiting cards and boarding passes. The objects served as inspiration
for creating beautiful works. A German telephone card, for example, impressed
her particularly. "It was a mysterious mouth, which might be smiling with
irony or complicity." With the image in her mind and making use of personal
experiences, Christina started adding to and giving the mouth a new shape. In
total, 29 paintings emerged, plus six panels and an installation with fifteen
tubes. The exhibition makes liberal use of red and gold, to show the mouth being
transformed into flowers and hearts, in a clear incursion into the intimate feminine
