Paulo Coelho on behalf of art

He helps Christina Oiticica in her work.

Holding a shovel in his hands – that’s how writer Paulo Coelho was recently caught. But you’re wrong if you think that the experience has something to do with his next book. As a caring and helpful husband, he was digging holes so that his wife, Christina Oiticica, could bury over 70 canvases. The exotic technique is linked to one of the resources used by the painter for the exhibit The Four Seasons, which opened on Tuesday 9 at the Mestnua Galley in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The artist prepared for the new enterprise for a whole year. Besides covering the paintings with earth, she also tied some of them to tree trunks to let nature interact and finish her work. Without any date set for arriving in Brazil, the show will first pass through Paris, Rome, London and the United States. Also in Slovenia, on Friday 5 Christina installed the exhibit Paths Gathered at the Rubnica Valley Gallery. The Brazilian artist also takes part in a virtual photography show on the site of the France-Brazil Museum (www.fcfb.rj.gov.br/galeria_entrar.asp), which can be accessed until 31 December.
